Recording Project Fundraiser
Goal: $20,000 Raised: $11,212

At its heart, composer Jeffrey Derus' sweeping new concert-length work is a story about the transformation one experiences in a wilderness. The first two movements are aptly named "Survival Chakra" (featuring crystal singing bowls), and "Journey Into Yourself (To Begin)" (see video below for a short excerpt of these movements).

"I wanted to create a story that encompasses three experiences one can have on the [Pacific Crest Trail]. The breathtaking nature, the mental and physical mindfulness, and the spiritual transformation. Although the text is interwoven by these layers, the listener is given an open pathway to interpret the story as their own." - Jeffrey Derus

In light of current events, this work takes on an even deeper meaning. Due to social distancing and public health restrictions, the world premiere of From Wilderness has been rescheduled to Spring 2022.

While we look forward to sharing this beautiful work with you in person, our goal is to meanwhile bring it straight to your music library as a studio-recorded album. If you feel moved to make this goal a reality, please consider giving today through the link below, or through Jeffrey Derus' personal GoFundMe campaign here.
