Why are they called "Choral Artists"? Our Artistic Director and founder of CAI, Brandon Elliott, tells us why:
"When founding Choral Arts Initiative, I knew that I didn’t want our musicians to just be called singers. Merriam-Webster defines a singer as 'one who sings.' They do more than that. They have to break through the occasional complexities that new music can present and connect deeply to the music. They then are tasked with taking the music—the art—and sharing it meaningfully with others. These are tasks far beyond the call of a 'singer.' These are the tasks of a sincere artist.
In addition to this mindset, it is so important for our Choral Artists to know that they are the foundation of our organization. Quite literally, they put the 'Choral Arts' in Choral Arts Initiative. Our organization could not exist nor thrive without their dedication to the choral art. It also sets before ourselves an inherent expectation: sincere commitment to artistry."
