A special congratulations to our Music Director, Brandon Elliott, who participated in the National Conductors' Symposium hosted by the Vancouver Chamber Choir in British Columbia!
This program provides advanced training in choral conducting, drawing applicants from across the globe. Brandon was one of five selected conductors to spend a week rehearsing the fully-professional ensemble, culminating in a public performance. In addition to a great opportunity to work with this renowned ensemble, Brandon also received extensive training in conducting gesture and choral techniques from the acclaimed Maestro Jon Washburn. Brandon comments about the Symposium:
This Symposium was a peak for me musically, professionally, and emotionally. The choir is absolutely fabulous both as an ensemble, and as a group of incredibly kind individuals. I learned so much from them. I also learned so much from Maestro Washburn. Talk about a man who gave so much for the sake of the choral art, and it paid off with his ensemble - now in its forty-third year of operation. He possesses a vast and intricate knowledge of the choral conducting craft. I will be forever grateful for this immense learning opportunity. I can't wait to take all that I learned and apply it to my rehearsals with Choral Arts Initiative!
Here's to a life-long journey of learning for all of us at Choral Arts Initiative!
